To be honest, I am a little disappointed that we may be going straight from Mortal Kombat 11 into Mortal Kombat 12. So Mortal Kombat 12 seems like the safest bet from NetherRealm’s standpoint. At this time though, it is unclear what WB Games’ status is within all this corporate shuffling. While this didn’t end up happening, it was announced last year that WB Games’ parent company, WarnerMedia, would merge with Discovery. and AT&T, which would include NetherRealm Studios. Rumors abounded last year that WB Games was being sold off in the larger merger between Warner Bros. However, a new Injustice does make sense considering the tenuous status of WB Games, which has control over the games based on the DC Comics characters. Everything from Mortal Kombat 12, Injustice 3, and even a Marvel fighting game have been reported to be in development. Rumors have been circulating for months about what the studio’s upcoming project could be. The information is so conspicuously laid out that many believe this was not a “leak” but a calculated tease by the developer.
